Last weeks quilts… finaly!
Sorry it has taken so long to get photos posted from last weeks customer quilts, lets just say i will be so glade when September is over!
ok here we go, first up are two quilts made by Diane D. A Dresden Plate and a Flower Garden Block. Now if i remember correctly Diane purchased the Dresden Pates and the flower garden blocks at a sale and then appliqued them into place to make these quilts, what a great find! Both have puffy polyester batting and were quilted with white thread.

And here is a Bow Tie quilt made by Sue G. The Bow Ties have a three denominational center so i did not quilt in that area so they could still stand out. Puffy polyester batting and white thread was used. Lots of feathers, and CC quilting to hold everything together.

That’s all for last weeks quilting, hope to have some more quilts to share soon!
My new laptop has arrived, and a few customer quilts!
Well the new laptop has arrived, and i have almost got everything loaded that i need and a few things that i don’t need but think i want anyway! I went with a HP HDX with a 18.4″ screen. Yap it may be over kill but i do use my laptop daily to watch DVD’s why I’m working so i figured the large screen would come in handy. That my story and i am sticking to it! I also have a Blue-Ray DVD but i have no Blue-Ray disk’s to try in it. Maybe I’ll pick up a couple sometime and see if it really makes a difference but for now I’ll stick to my regular old DVD collection!
Ok i haven’t been able to post any customer quilts in some time, and i have been asked to update that part of the blog. Only problem is i have just uploaded 48 photos to my WebShots page! So what I’m going to do is post some small photos and you can click on them to go see a large view as well as other views of the same quilt. Most quilts have at least two photos but some have a lot more!
A Few Quilt Photos To Share
Goodness has it been over two weeks! i swear i need to tie i string on my finger to remind me to post photos on Friday night! Ok that’s not really true, i did think about doing this weeks post Friday why’ll watching some late night tv but i just couldn’t get myself up of the couch to find the laptop! Anyway…
First off is two quilt made by Sue W. The first is a memory/photo quilt in blue. Quilted with a light blue thread with a feather border and windy swirls in the center. Second is a bow tie quilt, quilted with cream and forest green thread with lots and lots of CC!
Here are three photos of a quilt made by Colette F. Sorry i do not know the name of this pattern, but i really like it! i think it would be great made in the Asian prints i have been collecting for a few years now. The quilt was quilted with Mother goose color thread (yes that really is the thread color!) each block was quilted in straight lines going up or down depending on were it fell, giving it a checkerboard effect if that would help explain what i am trying to say! This quilt will be a weeding gift and has the wedding info embroidered on the backing, sorry no photo to post of the back!
Now a couple of photos of Mary H. quilt that was donated to a raffle for a local Relay for Life event. The pattern is called Sweet Sixteen and is free on the Maywood Studio Fabric website. It was quilted with white thread, simple swirls in the nine patch swirl areas, feathered wreath’s in the open white background, a simple swirly border with a little wavy sid to hold the border down. I’m hopping they sell a lot of tickets on this one!
This quilt is a broken Star, made with half square triangles for easy piecing! it also went to a raffle for a Local Relay for Life event over the weekend. I have not heard how much money it made yet but hopflully it did ok! it was made by Geneva H. and was quilted with very simple swirl designs as it was given to me Friday morning and had to be returned that same night by 5:00! yes it was a tossed together quilt on all ends but it turned out ok. Note to my sister— next time you need a raffle quilt give us more than two weeks notice and you’ll get a much better quilt!!!
Now we have three t-shirt quilts from Dolores M. I am not sure if D.M. made them all or if she was just the one to bring them to me for quilting! I know she makes them but i also know she makes the others make there own from time to time! I am only posting close ups of each quilt, You will see some little fuzzy’s sticking around the lettering, just know i did go back and take my tweezers and pull most all of that off before retuning the quilts! I left the fuzzy’s on the photos so the names would stand out more, other wise they tend to blend in and you can not see the quilting! Hey Dolores- do you see my flub in the first photo! Yap i fixed it before i gave it back to you, look close it should stand out like a big number 8!
Well that’s all for now, i promise i will do my best to update again on Friday night!
My week in a nut shell…
What a sucky week!
My week started out learning that my cousin, who is suffering from brain cancer, is going to need another surgery. At least that is what the doctors are thinking at this time. The cancer is growing again, even after this recent round of chemo. He is going to go see the surgeon who did the first surgery this coming Tuesday, to see if another surgery can/should be done. A lot of the people that i know look at me like I’m nuts that i worry so much about the situation. one even had the nerve to tell me “he’s just a distant cousin, why do you worry so much?” WHY? WHY?! He has been a part of my life for as long as i can remember, he has always been here, living in the same house, worrying about everyone. If the conditions were different and it was me, or another member of the family he would be just as worried about them. Why can they just not understand? Why can i not just ignore everything they say and go one with thing, why do i have to let it bother me so darn much?!
Lex, my cat, has decided that he can climb walls, literally. Every single wall in the house has at least on little mark from Alexander. Is this what i get for naming him after a villain from Superman? Well need less to say, the little kitty is off to be de-clawed Monday. not something i really want to have to do but in his case it is the only thing i can come up with, as nothing i do to try and get him to stop has worked. Burt & Ernie have live with me for over five years now and still have there claws, and not once tried to climb the wall, ok so Burt has been caught on top of the refrigerator a few times but at least he didn’t use his claws to get him there!
Ok, three days down, i finally got a bit of work done, no were nears as much as i needed to get done, so i was ready to make it a long weekend trying to get as caught up on everything that i possibly could. i should have know this was never going to work!
Tonight, chasing Lex threw the kitchen after he was caught trying to make a snack out of one of my Orchids, i step on something (lord only knows what it was, I still can not find anything laying around on the floor anywhere? and take a nice big chunk out of the bottom of my foot. Yap, they day was going way to well! Now family members would tell you that the one thing i should never ever go without is a properly stocked first add kit. After all, next to my brother Willie, i am the biggest klutz they have every meet. I normally have everything that anyone would ever need to fix any sort of boo-boo, band-aids, ointments, tape, gauze, even those little strips that work as stitches. Where is all my stuff you ask? I HAVE NO CLUE! I looked and looked, and nothing, Nada, zip. i even got my cousin to look for it, he could find a needle in a haystack if he was ever asked to, even he could not find it. He did find a couple of the ointments but that was it. So why i limped up the step my aunt ran out to the local store to find something to wrap my foot up with.
Now tomorrow morning i have to get up, drive to the local quilt shop, try to hop inside with a finished quilt, and pick up at least three that are ready to go home with me. Not only that but i need to pick out some fabric for a new quilt that my aunt and i are starting at our next sewing day this coming Sunday.
So here it is, 1:15am in the morning, and i am sitting on the couch, trying to watch What Not To Were, with my foot propped up, with a nice piece of icky bloody gauze stuck to the bottom of it, wondering how in the world am i going to get in bed with a couple of little dogs and a foot that bleeds every time i try to walk on it, and wondering how i am going to wash my hair, and how in the world am i going to talk my friend Karie into packing my stuff out to the car for me tomorrow.
Ok, Breathe, have another glass on wine, and let me post the photos of the two quilts i did get finished this week, before i pass out on the couch!
First off we have a pattern called Pink lemonade, made by Mary H. Quilted with Swirls, Double Bubbles, and C.C. all in white thread. Mary said to quilt it like another quilt i had done for her a few months back, i switched it up a bit but all the same designs are there.
And now we have a Bow Tie made by Nita M. Quilt with lots and lots of C.C. and a swirl border in bother Dark Red and Cream thread

Well, I’m off to hobble to bed, and to pray that next week is way better than this one has been!
