Quilting photos from this past weeks work

Lets get right to the quilt shall we….

First up are a number of =quit made by Linda G. I have been working on these over the past few weeks but saved the photos until they were all finished and ready to go..
Here is a Block of the Month sampler, i have more closeups of this quilt in my WebShots album, if you want to see them just click on the photo below and you will go to the correct page… I hope!
I used a light Olive thread to blend in as much as possible and a cotton batting was also used.

Her is Linda’s Eagle Medallion quilt, the fabrics reminded me of Civil War reproduction prints but i am not positive.

This is a small wall hanging size quilt with Lillie’s The background does not show up in its true bright white color, but the quilting shows up well so i didn’t try to fix the photo. There are a few other views of this quilt in my WebShots album. If you look close you will see that the flowers are versions of a  Stack n’ Whack block

This Wild Goose Chase in blue & white was quilting with lots of swirls. Linda requested feathers but i just could not figure out were to add them in at. I hope she likes it ok.

Linda’s final quit, Sunbonnet Sue & Sam was made with 20′s reproduction prints, the appliques are all hand stitched into place. I can only imagine how long this one took! Quilted with waves and stippling. Man i hate a stipple! It seems to take me fore er when i use it on a quilt. So why did i pick something else? Because stippling is a very popular design, and it does look pretty good on this pattern. A more modern fill would have looked very much out of place!

Mary H. made this Lovers Knot quilt, simple quilting was in store for the busy pattern, nothing to fancy, separate borders and some swirls with a allover double ribbon meander for the main body of the quilt.

And last but not least is a Sampler Quilt, made by Barb G. Some of these blocks were a bit tricky to quilt. They had some build up in some of the spot were the seams cam together, so i had to come up with some quilting designs to try and stay away from these spots, i didn;t want to break anther needle this week!

A Rare Gem…

I do not like to center out a particular customer quilt, I always feel that when i do one of the other customers is setting at there computer screen saying “mine is better than that, why not talk about mine!” But this week i quilted a quilt that i want to talk about.

I have quilted a number of  this popular Stack N Whack quilt pattern in the past few months, and always have the same problem when it comes time to quilting them. there are six triangles that come together at the same point, leaving a thick point in the seam that makes it very difficult to quilt threw that area. So I have always did my best to try to work around the thick spot in the seam.  This Stack N Whack quilt was made by Fay R. When I first saw the quilt top I thought, man this is really nicely pieced! The seams all match up, and the border looks nice a straight! But this week when I was putting in my quilting machine I took notice of one other thing take a look at the back of this top!

Look at those seams! All pressed open! This made all the pieces lay nice and flat and it cut down on the bulk big time, making it very easy to quilt in the area were the triangles come together. There was only one downside to this, I had already cam up with a quilting design that would skip over the normally bulky seams!

Pansy prints are the norm for this pattern, nearly all of the quilt I have quilting have had pansy’s in the somewhere! Fay did a great job picking out the coordinating print to go along with he Pansy print. This next photo shows the quilting work in progress and you can see how the colors go so well together! The quilting in the print is hard to see, you may need to enlarge the photo to see it, but it does have a feather designs in it. I quilted feathers in the large open background areas, and some swirls in the smaller areas of the background. There are simple wavy lines and swirls in the borders.

Busy Work Week!

Well this week has been very busy here, trying to get the last of the Christmas Quilts finished and out of the studio! I haven’t had much time for anything but quilting, I even had to crank up the DVR to record my favorite TV programs! OK, enough about that, on to the quilts!

First off was a simple sports theme quilt made by Janice H.
Sorry but I have no photos of this one! I swear I took some but I can’t find them anywhere!

The next two were made by Lisa K. The First is made from Reproduction Prints, not sure of the name of the pattern so I have been calling it a Repro Stripe! Her second quilt is a Tennessee Waltz quilt.

Now we have a first time quilt maker, Karen A. another quilt made from stripes!

This Fan Quilt was made by Theresa N. Its the first time I have seen this setting, but I think it is going to become on of my favorite!

Cheryl M. made this quilt call Colombian Puzzle. It was a bit difficult to quilt as the pieces of the star do not line up like a traditional star quilt would!

And last, but definitely not least we have a Stack N Whack quilt made by Fay R. Now I am only going to post one photo of this one as I want to make a post just about this quilt tomorrow!

Well that’s all for now, remember if you want to see a larger view of any of the quilts just click on them and you will be taken to my WebShots Album!
