The Remodel Is Over!

Yes! The remodel is over! I can now go back to quilting without worry of sawdust getting on the quilts! I ended up taking a unexpected two weeks of “vacation due to jury duty and the remodel dust. So I am once again behind in my schedule. Sorry about the lack of post but after working on the room I just didn’t have the energy to get things posted! I have been working to get back on track so I can be caught up by the time I take my real vacation in April to go to the AQS Quilt Show in Paducah KY.

Well I thought I would share some photos of my studio ! Please remember that it’s not set up yet! Before all is said and done the book shelves will be full, the floor will be swept and the sewing desk will be cluttered with fabric! It will take a few days to get moved back in, as I am only doing work on the room now in the lat afternoons. I am trying to get caught back up on my quilting orders. Luckily I have very understanding customers that are willing to let me have a extra week or two to get here quilts finished and back to them!

Entry Door & book shelf, the folding door leads to a small closet under the stairs that hold the large kitchen items that will not fit int the kitchen cabinets.

Sewing Desk, what doesn’t show up in the photo is the newly added under counter lighting that helps to light the sewing desk. This room is very dark, no windows except for the one in the entry door so extra light is very important!

Be sure to check out my design wall, it has a secret behind it!

Studio #1

It opens up like cabinet doors to hide my rules and cutting supplies! This was a ideal I have had for some time and I finally get to see it finished! If anyone is interested in a more detailed description of the design wall let me know and I will write something up! I still need to cover up that hot pink foam on the inside of the wall, the color doesn’t bother me i just don’t like the printing that shows. The wall is coverd with some cotton batting to grab onto the fabic bits and hold them in place.

Studio #6

my rulers are hung useing the little sticky hooks that are oh so easy to remove, just incase i need to move them around to get yet another cant live without it ruler onto the wall! i also added some post-it note tags behind each ruler so i know what ruler goes on what hook.

Total Blog Slacker!

Oh dear… has it really been that long since my last Blog post!!!I guess you can call me a Blog slacker, but with Jury Duty , work, and the sewing studio remodel I just haven’t had time to set down and type!

Yap, Jury Duty again! I swear I must have a Pick Me!, sign tattooed on my forehead. Every time I get the order to go in I get picked to set on the jury. At least the last trial was more interesting that any of the others. I didn’t feel like falling asleep during closing arguments like I have before. In the end I and the other jurors DID believe the person on trial was indeed guilty of something but there was just NO PROOF of it. I won’t go into details but it concerned a aggravated battery charge but the witnesses didn’t see the fight start and no one was able to say who started it or why it started. In the end the proof just wasn’t there. Luckily I only have one more time that I might need to go in but I won’t know for sure until the last Friday of this month when I have to call in again!

Some of you know that we (my aunt and I) decided to completely remodel our sewing studio. And it is a complete remodel! New walls, new doors, new floor, and a dedicated design wall! I can’t wait until it’s finished. It is taking a bit longer than expected but I can guarantee it will be perfect when it is finished! My cousin-in-law is doing most of the work for us so it is all getting done at night and on weekends. He is a amazing carpenter, a perfectionist beyond any I have ever seen before. The trim we picked out wasn’t working so he returned it a made the new trim from scratch! No its not fancy but it works really well with the complete design. I want to wait until its finished before I post photos so be sure to check back!

As for quilting I Haven’t had much time to get work into the schedule! After the trip home from jury duty I would grab a bite to eat and then go straight to work but trust me when I say you can’t get much done on just a couple hours a night, after all my sewing studio remodel also put a cramp on the time I had to work as that room is connected to my quilting studio and a lot of the supplies were stored under m machine! I was however, able to nearly keep up with my schedule, and luckily I have some very understanding customers! I won’t be posting photos of the past few weeks work as it was very similar to past posted quilts. I will see to adding the photos to my WebShots page so if you are interested in a peek you might check there next week!

Well I need to get back to replying to my emails from the past couple of weeks, I feel like I have abandoned everyone lately, but I just haven’t had to much of a choice!

Be sure to check back this weekend, I want to post some photos of my newest crafting addiction, and I am going to post a new guilt pleasure!

Enjoy your weekends everyone!
