I Hate Bad Day’s!
Today was a not so fun day. I put a hole in a quilt! And according to the other people in the house, I screamed louder than I ever had before! I have to admit I was so shocked and dismayed I didn’t know what to do! Well I have left a message for the owner and hopefully se will not be to upset with me. I know it sounds like I am try to make “light” of the situation but trust me I’m not taking it that way! Ok, lets not go any farther with this until I hear from the quilt owner!
Today’s first quilt is a nice traditional pattern, a Bears Paw in blue and white
made by Sheila F.
The second quilt was brought to me by Sheila as well, if I remember correctly it belongs to a friends of hers. This String pieced Star was original a tied quilt. The ties were remover and new backing and batting were purchased and the quilt requited. String piecing was a way of taking small pieces of fabric to make a quilt. The small piece are actually stitched to a base fabric such as muslin or old clothes and then cut into the shape needed and pieced into a block. I have even seen some string pieced blocks using newspaper and catalog pages as a base instead of fabric. As a mater of fact I own those blocks, I’ll have to see if I can find them and post a few photos for you!
